We usually explore conflict transformation with change makers from the post-war regions and conflict stricken countries.

But what happens when the conflict comes from the natural disasters like wildfires (mostly provoked by the man)?

Conflict where the community, nature, policies, neighbours, politicians, firefighters, private companies and activists are directly involved.

This will be the topic that we will be working on during one week this October. If you like the topic, please read more 👇

✈️ This training is free of charge (we will cover your food, accommodation, and even flights).

👧 We are looking for 24 participants from France, Portugal, Germany, and Spain

🌳👩🏽‍💻 Venue: Sende, a tiny village in Spanish mountains, right on the border with Portugal (often affected by the wildfires)

🗓️ Dates: Arrival on October 25th and departure on October 31th of 2023

⏲️ Deadline for application: September 18th 2023, 19:00 (Madrid, Paris, Berlin time).

BRIEF SUMMARY

The international event brings participants interested in exploring conflict transformation in the context of natural disasters and local community.

We will be using the same teaching methodology that we use to work on conflict transformation and peace building but on the context of Galician wildfires.

This program comes with intercultural dimension because we will be a group of people coming from different realities and different cultures.

We will be working on ideas, solutions, conflict theories, we will build prototypes, use digital and analog tools, and share good learnings.

And all of this while enjoying the kiwi shade in a Galician village while eating well and coworking and coliving with other participants.

FACILITIES

The event will be organized in Senderiz, 20 inhabitants village, in the facilities of Sende, a coliving and coworking space.

  • Accommodation will be provided in 4 village houses (private and shared rooms)
  • Shared toilets
  • 8 outdoor spaces for the work in small groups
  • 2 coworking spaces with internet connection
  • Village pool with very cold water
  • Houses are equipped with all necessities
  • Indoor and outdoor dining room

HOW TO REACH SENDE

Sende is located here, see the map.

Closest airports are in Porto, Vigo, and Santiago de Compostela (around 2h drive from the village by car or organized bus).

Madrid is also good option in case your flight is very cheap. Then you may take fast 2h train to Ourense and from Ourense you come to Sende.

Usually participants arrive to Porto, then we organize a mini-bus to bring you to Sende.

Please mind that cost of the mini-bus is between 30€ and 60€ in total in both directions to arrive to Sende (more people share, cheaper the bus).

We will send a full info-pack with detailed information to everyone once you get selected.
